Although most remediation contractors will create a similar plan for you, potential conflicts of interest may arise. Thus, our report provides a standard for evaluating the quality and completeness of the work performed by your contractor.

Inspection for Homes Under Construction

Homes under construction are at risk due to exposure to outdoor elements. For example, the wood framing can absorb water, and is therefore a hot-spot for mold growth. In some situations, insulation and Sheetrock installed without regard to the moisture present can also cause mold to grow.

The ideal time to inspect for mold is during the pre-insulation / Sheetrock phase. We recommend that you contact us to schedule a mold inspection as soon as your builder notifies you that the insulation and Sheetrock installation has been scheduled. This is because it can be costly to remove and re-install insulation and sheetrock that the mold has compromised.

Moisture Detection

In order to find mold spores, it is necessary to first inspect existing or potential water issues.; mold spores require water to grow. We utilize instruments such as moisture meters, infrared cameras, and hygrometers to detect the home’s moisture.

Indoor mold growth can be prevented and controlled by minimizing areas of moisture. If you have a pre-existing mold condition, then not only should the mold be cleaned and removed, the water problem should also be corrected. If this is not done and you leave the water problem as is, the mold will most definitely return.
